About Flint, MI - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Flint, Michigan is the county seat of Genesee County, and with approximately 97,400 residents, it is also the largest city in the county. Located on the Flint River, it is a major city within the Mid-Michigan region. It is broken into several neighborhoods grouped around the city center, including the Grand Traverse Street District and Carriage Town. There are several college campuses in the city, including Kettering University and the University of Michigan – Flint, all of which are easily accessible from other communities via I-75, I-169, and I-475.
As a major cultural hub for the region, there are plenty of things to see and do in Flint. Many museums call the city home, including the Longway Planetarium, Whaley House Museum, and the Flint Children’s Museum. Art enthusiasts may enjoy a trip to the Flint Institute of Arts, while outdoor recreation is plentiful at Stepping Stone Falls, For-Mar Nature Preserve, Wilson Park, and Kearsley Park. The Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad is also a popular historical site.
Typical of the southeastern portion of the state, Flint is known for its humid continental climate zone. Winters are cold and feature moderate snowfall. Temperatures don’t rise above freezing more than 50 days per year, and there are many times when temperatures fail to even reach positive digits. With average high temperatures of about 29 degrees Fahrenheit in January, it is important that residents plan ahead with the right gas or electric furnace. Annual servicing is also recommended.
During the spring months, Flint residents can often turn off their climate controls for some time. However, during the summer, many locals enjoy the cooling action of a central air conditioner. July is the hottest month of the year, and average daily highs reach about 82 degrees. An Energy Star central air conditioner will keep indoor conditions cool while also improving air quality.
